Hello peoples! I've been in the shed today making test tiles for my new batch of glazes. To see how the glazes behave it is best to have some texture on your tiles so I have used a brand new woodcut stamp I got at the Chatsworth show on the weekend.
We were a bit disappointed in the lack of real artisan vendors at the show this year. The people I got my stamps from were one of the few there. They don't make the stamps themselves but they use them to make hand printed items at their shop in Witney.
There was only one potter! I got a little snail (of course) from Blue Dragon Ceramics of Hull.
I love my new stamps and I will be making Christmas ornaments and and ring dishes with these ones. But FIRST I need to test my glazes! Will post the results here when they come out of the kiln.
On the left are a couple of test tiles using the heart stamp. I was really pleased with the level of detail you get from this one. I have not done a lot of wood block printing which makes test tiles the perfect opportunity to practice.
I eventually got the hang of applying an even pressure for an even impression. The writing on the back there is the code for the glaze. All of them have a code on them.
