Hello happy friends! How are you today? Last week is was cats. This week it is all vintage style tattoo cross stitch patterns.I have a sort of obsession with symbolism and tattoos are certainly rich in metaphor and meaning. Especially vintage style tattoos because they were limited to a great degree by the available technology. Designs were simple and acted as a sort of code. Tattoo technology these days lets people have designs much more personal to their own life experiences. They aren't just for sailors and bikers any more.
I wanted to try some tattoo cross stitch designs to see if the style could be captured in another medium. I don't have any tattoos myself because I am sort of chicken shit and don't like needles lol. Also I don't know if my attention span is good enough to live with a design for decades. I'd probably get sick of it.
Today's free vintage tattoo cross stitch pattern is a swallow. The swallow is a traditional tattoo motif often chosen by sailors. It is a symbol of freedom and perseverance.
