Welcome to Motivation Monday! I have some ideas kicking around for some motivational cross stitch designs and, rather than cramming them all into a single week, I thought I would release them every so often on Mondays. A great way to start off the week!
As I talked about a couple of weeks ago, I do a lot of stuff to maintain my mental health. I am also a, ahem, woman of a certain age and want to make sure that I maintain a healthy body for life. One of the things that helps me is keeping active and flexible. And I do a yoga practice once a week to supplement my daily workout stretching routine.
Another thing I do for my mental health is meditate. I don't mean that I sit on a cushion and try to empty my mind and contemplate my place in the universe. Meditation comes in many forms and for me it is simply the act of trying to get my brain to shut up about the really small stupid things that bother me day to day and either do something that needs 100% concentration (like cross stitch) or something that needs no concentration at all (like running and walking) and focusing on the good and big things in my life.
And there are just some days that doing that is a lot of work. Especially yoga after a day of sitting at a desk!
It's not going to namaste itself. Finding peace with yourself and discovering and acknowledging your inner light, even for five minutes, takes effort. Just like anything else good life. The trick is to start. Motivation will follow!
