Free Cross Stitch Chart: Fair Isle Knit Toque

The fair isle toque cross stitch is going to be part of a bigger type sampler. It has been such fun exploring colour and patterns. The possibilities are endless. I also thought that as it is WINTER up here in the North, this was a rather cosy and comfortable bit of stitching for a chilly afternoon by the space heater.

I come from Canada and spent some time in the Eastern part of that country so I really appreciate the power of the toque. It has been difficult to explain the place the Toque has in Canadian culture to the English. It truly is more a way of life than a piece of clothing.

I have posted here the chart for the toque and also an example of how you might add the pompom. I have used just random and layered back type stitching but you could also add a real mini pompom if you are making this into a Christmas tree ornament or lavender bag. If you want something flatter a round loom flower would work just as well or a piece of snipped felt.
