Birds of a Feather. Five free cross stitch patterns inspired by beautiful quilt designs.
Hello happy friends! After a week off due to a dip in mental health (feeling better this week!) I am back with five brand new free cross stitch patterns for you. These are all inspired by some beautiful quilt designs I saw that featured beautiful birds.
I like the geometric nature of these free bird cross stitch patterns which makes them very good beginner cross stitch patterns. I am not a quilter myself per se but I have dabbled in simple blocks for things like coasters and place mats, but the quilts that inspired these cross stitch birds are mini works of art!
The cross stitch bird pattern for today is a cross woodpecker. This cross stitch woodpecker is the kind that I actually have out in the little bit of woodland that is behind my house. They come and go at different times of year and even disappear for a year and it always makes my heart glad to hear them pecking away back there. They are pretty, small birds. Much smaller than their North American cousins. I get two varieties: this red headed one and also a little green one sometimes appears.
Seeing a woodpecker should encourage you to strike a balance between being kind and being cautious. It symbolizes the need to understand different rhythms, patterns, and cycles, and to do your best to adapt to them and flourish. It represents warnings and prophecies, and the need to be connected with the earth.
