I cannot believe it is nearly December! That is just four months since Hancock's House of Happy relaunched! And this week I am very excited about the new free cross stitch patterns for you to download.
I know you are probably all familiar with the concept of silhouettes and cross stitch silhouettes that are filled in with repeating patterns. I have never really done a design like this so I challenged myself. Mostly these sorts of silhouette cross stitch designs are animals. Like cats or elephants or whatever. And they tend to be flat. The cross stitch silhouette is filled in with a cross stitch repeating pattern in one colour variation.
So I started thinking... what other sorts of things could one wall paper in cross stitch? The result is a whole week of geometric pattern cross stitch silhouette designs.
Of all of the free silhouette cross stitch patterns, this floral corkscrew silhouette cross stitch pattern is my favourite. I am so in love with the shape and colours.
I used the same floral cross stitch pattern in different colour combinations to bring out the different parts of the bottle opener silhouette. Which I think is the challenge with these free silhouette cross stitch designs. Can you make the cross stitch objects more dimensional and interesting using just the cross stitch geometric pattern. It seems to work really well with this cross stitch corkscrew silhouette.
