Font Week! Four Free Modern Cross Stitch Patterns to Help You Stitch Your Own Messages.
Hello happy friends. Bit of a change of pace this week. First of all, because it is the Easter holiday this weekend there are only four new free cross stitch patterns. And secondly, by popular demand, all of the free cross stitch patterns this week are cross stitch fonts!
I had several people ask me via facebook about the lettering in many of the free cross stitch patterns that have come out recently and if I would mind sharing those cross stitch fonts.
There are four or five main ones that I have developed and use regularly. It is much easier than creating a new cross stitch font every time I need to have some words on a design. There is the one that came out at Christmas last year and then these four I will post this week. Although I am always developing new ones.
Cross stitch fonts are funny things. It is difficult to just do a conversion in the charting software of images of letters. Generally, in order for converted images of letters to be clear and distinct fonts, the scale has to be quite large. And a couple of my cross stitch fonts like that. But sometimes the scale is too big for the design and the font has to be developed specifically in cross stitch. I've got a couple like that as well.
Today's font is a tiki style inspired wood grain modern cross stitch font. Gee, do you think I could get any more key words into that sentence? I say this cross stitch font is wood grain, which is why it is brown, but you can make it whatever colours you want. It could look like a shiny chrome effect if you did it in a bright colour with light highlights for example.
