Wondering if you missed any of this week's free cross stitch patterns? There were five free cross stitch patterns of mythical creature silhouettes.
I have done silhouette cross stitch patterns before with more organised filling patterns. I thought it would be fun to play with colour for these mythical creature silhouettes and have a more free style approach to the backgrounds. Each one is meant to reflect the mythical creature. For example, the mermaid cross stitch pattern has a seaside/beachy colour range while the unicorn silhouette cross stitch pattern has a pastel unicorn feel. The phoenix, of course, has a fire cross stitch background.
These mythical silhouette cross stitch patterns were a lot of fun to create because I got to play with a lot of colours. It was interesting to see how the backgrounds fit with the silhouette. Like the fairy cross stitch pattern looks sort of like she is wearing a little dress just because of where the background was placed. It has a cute effect.
